Found 16 bucks in my shirt while I was ironing it!

I love it when that happens!

Me too! When that happens, I consider that the Universe’s way of telling me to get out and have a little fun, guilt-free!

    Score! I second Pigbristles’s emotion.

On this note, I was reading the NYT about state lost money funds, and decided to try it. Turns out New York was holding $138.50 that I never realized I hadn’t pick up from an awful telemarketing job (well, that’s redundant) I had in Albany…in 1996!

So for fourteen years I didn’t realize that I had this money waiting for me. Had I not read that web page I may have gone my whole life having put in about 25 hours of trying to foist the “Save the Bay” VISA card onto innocent people in Rhode Island–for free. (The money has also been reduced in value by inflation, such that the original check would have been only worth $99.60. So I did log some free hours for them.)

And, had I invested it… Oh, forget it.

The 16 dollars went that same day to:

    – buy my grandmother a birthday card (she’s 100)
    – buy my brother Mayor a birthday card (he’s 52)
    – buy a pen to sign the birthday cards with, since I left the house without one and was on my way to my Grandmother’s 100th birthday party, at which my brother would also be attending
    – tip the bartender at La Parisienne where my mother took me out for dinner after the party
-tip the valet at La Parisienne for keeping an eye on Gloria.

Not quite sure how I was planning on spending it, but it got me out of potential hot water and greased the wheels on my getting a bunch of free hooch and chow, so I’ll roll with it.
